Telugu Association Coimbatore was born in 1989 from a heartfelt need — to keep the warmth of Telugu culture alive in the City of Looms. Founded by a small, passionate group of Telugu-speaking people, the Association grew from informal gatherings into a beloved institution that touched hundreds of lives across Coimbatore over three and a half decades.
Coimbatore's Telugu community has retained its Cultural identity with remarkable pride across generations — the language, the festivals, the cuisine, and the values passed down with the same warmth they were received. TAC exists to nurture and celebrate this living heritage.

Telugu in Coimbatore
Coimbatore has always been more than a home for Tamils — it is a city that has warmly embraced Telugu-speaking communities for generations. A significant number of Coimbatore’s residents speak Telugu as their mother tongue, many of them with roots going back several generations in this city. The bonds between the two communities run deep, built on mutual respect, shared commerce, and the easy familiarity of neighbourly life.
The people of Coimbatore have long extended gracious respect to Telugu traditions and language. Telugu festivals are celebrated with fan and fervour. Telugu spoken freely on the streets and in markets, and the distinct customs of the community — from Ugadi rituals to Karthika Vanabhojanalu — have found a welcoming home here. This beautiful coexistence is something TAC is proud to honour and strengthen.

Telugu Association Coimbatore is a nonprofit, non-political organisation. We exist solely for the cultural, educational, social, and welfare benefit of our community. We do not affiliate with any political party or movement, and our doors are open to all Telugu-speaking families regardless of background.

In Loving Memory of Late Sri Murthy Garu
Late Sri Murthy Garu was one of the founding members of our Telugu Association and a
pillar of strength whose contributions played a significant role in shaping the organization
during its formative years.
A passionate, energetic, and lively personality, Sri Murthy Garu was deeply committed to
fostering unity and friendship among Telugu families in Coimbatore. His enthusiasm was
infectious, and his presence brought warmth and positivity to every gathering. He believed
strongly in the power of community and worked tirelessly to keep members connected and
engaged.
Whenever the Association planned a cultural, social, or spiritual event, Sri Murthy Garu
was always among the first to step forward. He readily took initiative, coordinated
activities, motivated fellow members, and ensured that every program was conducted
successfully. His selfless dedication and willingness to serve made him a dependable and
cherished member of the Association.
Behind his efforts stood his gracious wife, Mrs. Subba Lakshmi Garu, whose wholehearted
support greatly contributed to the Association’s activities. On numerous occasions, she
warmly opened the doors of their home for meetings and discussions, often at very short
notice. Their hospitality, generosity, and commitment created a welcoming environment
that strengthened the bonds within our community.
Sri Murthy Garu’s legacy lives on through the spirit of togetherness, service, and
camaraderie that he helped nurture. His contributions, cheerful nature, and unwavering
dedication will always be remembered with gratitude and affection by all who had the
privilege of knowing him.
We oƯer our heartfelt respects and pray for his eternal peace. His memory will continue to
inspire future generations of our Association.
